Design process
For this project, we developed a redesign of the Vinted app that better addresses users’ needs and places a focus on inspiring content. Our goal was to build trust between buyers and sellers and make the entire buying and selling process more transparent and intuitive. Using user-centered methods, we created ways for inspiring content to actively contribute to the shopping experience and bring the community closer together.
Task Description
In this project, we analyzed the problem space of the Vinted app, reevaluated the existing value proposition, and consolidated user needs into a prioritized value proposition. Through iterative user research, the Value Proposition Canvas, and prototyping, we were able to continuously validate and optimize our solutions. In the process, we learned in particular how important clear team communication, a shared style guide, and a defined user flow are for consistent and efficient collaboration. Furthermore, our intensive engagement with user feedback showed us how crucial a human-centered approach is for successful digital products.

Research
As part of our research, we analyzed Vinted using a competitor map to compare it with similar apps and determine our position in the market. Through an online survey, we collected user feedback on the current app and identified key strengths and weaknesses. Building on this, we conducted 12 interviews that provided deeper insights into real user needs. We used this data to create well-defined personas and, through targeted questions such as “How Might We,” to define concrete starting points for solution development.

Strategies
During the strategy process, we leveraged the insights from our research to set clear goals and priorities for the redesign of the Vinted app. Based on the “How Might We” questions we formulated, we identified the most important key features, using methods like Crazy Eights to develop creative solutions for them. It was important to us to realign the value proposition to better meet users’ needs while clearly positioning ourselves within the competitive landscape. Our strategy aimed to strengthen trust between buyers and sellers and highlight inspiring content that engages the community. Through this structured approach, we ensured that design decisions were both user-centered and goal-oriented.

Process
In the design process, we began with initial sketches to visually capture key ideas and usage scenarios. Building on this, we developed initial wireframes and explored various interaction options to test different user interface concepts. At the same time, we designed the information architecture to clearly structure the steps and workflows within the app and make navigation user-friendly. As the project progressed, we created several variations and tested different color schemes to achieve a cohesive, user-friendly visual design. Finally, we created clickable low- and mid-fidelity prototypes that allowed us to directly test interactions and usability and refine them in a targeted manner. This iterative process helped us make informed design decisions and gradually refine our ideas into the final solution.

Result
Our final results highlight three key innovations and updates in the redesign of the Vinted app: First, we have completely revamped the landing page to offer users a clearer entry point and a more engaging overview. Second, we have developed personalized recommendations that are presented to users via trend boards based on current trends and individual interests. Third, we introduced inspirational content that addresses current topics in an editorial format and integrates relevant listings from sellers to engage the community and encourage browsing. These points summarize our goal of strengthening user retention and making the shopping experience more trustworthy.
